Key discoveries
The Longevity Genes Project includes more than 600 centenarian families and has identified gene variants (CETP, APOC3, ADIPOQ, TSHR, IGF1R) associated with exceptional longevity and protection against cardiovascular disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and dementia.
TAME trial
He conceived and designed the TAME (Targeting Aging with Metformin) multicenter trial, which examines whether metformin can delay the onset of multiple age-related conditions at once. The trial's strategic aim is to persuade the FDA to regard aging itself as a treatable condition.
